Multiple people have been shot at a Knoxville, Tenn., high school, including a police officer, according to the city's police department.
On Monday afternoon, the KPD tweeted that "multiple agencies are on the scene of a shooting at Austin-East Magnet High School," where there were "multiple gunshot victims" including a KPD officer.
It was not immediately clear if there were any fatalities.
Authorities are asking the public to avoid the area as the investigation remains active.
Minutes later, Knox County Schools Superintendent Bob Thomas confirmed that the school had been secured secured.
